Let’s start taking care of ourselves and our bodies! But first… some theory. 🙂
To exercise properly, we have to follow three phases: warming up, exercise and cooling down.
We’ve all heard about warming up before exercising, but why is it so important?
Warming up is crucial because it prepares your body, physically and mentally, for exercising and prevents from injuries whilst carrying them out.
We suggest that you spend at least 5 to 15 minutes warming up. You could certainly spend longer, but you need to bear in mind why you would do so and what’s your objective.
Take into account some of the following considerations for deciding how long you should spend warming up:
– Weather: the colder it is, the more time you should spend.

– How “fit” you are. If you exercise regularly, you will need to spend less time warming up.
– What exercises you want to warm up for and your objectives. The more demanding you are, the more time you will need to spend preparing yourself for it. i.e. more warming up time.
Please always remember that warming up should never tire you out in any way. It should not cause muscular, cardio or breathing fatigue.

On our following blog posts we will discuss different warm up techniques. It’s important to adjust your warm up exercises depending on the type of work out you intend to do.
